Narrative developments








1) Liam and Pinball selling the stars to innocent children; this shows they will do anything for money

2) Liam steals a policemen’s helmet, this shows he has no respect for the law

3) Liam arrives at the prison and the audience realize why he breaks the law, He does it because he has no parental guidance: his mother is in prison and her boyfriend has no respect for Liam.

4) The audience realizes that Liam also has a sensitive side: His mum wants the drugs that her boyfriend forced Liam to smuggle in, but Liam does not want his mum to have them. Because he does not give her the drugs her boyfriend grabs Liam and swears at him "kiss you mother you f*****g c****". Liam had to kiss her to give her the drugs. This gives the audience an insight of why Limas life is so bad.

5) After the plan to give her the drugs backfires Liam gets dragged out of the car and gets both physically and verbally assaulted. This attack is by both his mums boyfriend and granddad. This show that he has no family protection

6)When Liam discovers the caravan, he starts to dream and visualize him leaving his family and living their in peace, he starts to dream: this indicates that something bad is going to happen because not many dreams come true or if they a do they are usually short-lived.

7) Liam’s dream comes true when he buys the caravan for him and his mum to be happy in.

8) a pinnacle moment of the film is when the songs "ill stand by you" plays. This symbolizes how strong Liam and his friends loyalty and friendship is. They will stick together whatever life throws at them.

9) Liam gets mugged of his gear (drugs), and then gets his gear back. This shows how bad the crime is around the area where he lives. Then it cuts to chantelle cleaning Liam up again. She is more of a mother to him than a sister.

10) Liam is kidnapped and brought to a drug lord (boss of drugs) and he realizes that Liam has the potential and the drive to sell his drugs. He sells the drugs lord’s drugs using pizza boys as decoys.







11) Drug lord makes Liam betray his best friend and leave Pinball behind, this shows that he is being dragged into the darkest side of drug deals.

12) Liam has to stab someone to prove himself to the drug lord, but as he attempts to do this, he is stopped; this earns the respect of the drug lord.

13) Liam’s dream turns into a nightmare when he comes back and finds that Pinball has burnt down his caravan because of what Liam did to him.


14)Pinball steals the drug lords car, Liam must get Pinball to take it back before the drug lord notices its been stolen, Pinball has other ideas, he wrecks the car by deliberately crashing it. This will lead to serious consequences.

15) Liam is sent to kill Pinball on the drug lord’s orders because he wrecked his car. Liam does not want to stab his friend, but he is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He finds Pinball and is ready to stab him, but when Pinball grabs the knife, he cuts his own face, because he thought he was going to be killed by his best friend. When Liam sees how upset and mentally unstable Pinball is he realizes he can’t kill his best friend and rings for an emergency ambulance.









16) Chantelle earns herself an honest job after all the work she was doing at college. While chantelle is earning good honest money, Liam is selling drugs. This show a contrast between the two characters.
